1693 is a "piggyback" to the 1691 electronics calibration failure code.

Hello
Sorry to hear about your problem, but are you sure the VP44 is dead? P1693 is simply a companion code and doesn't mean much by itself. P0216 would be more worrisome. Have you checked the injection pump relay first? Are you sure you have good fuel pressure to the VP44? I don't want to insult your intelligence, but I would hate to see you replace your pump to find out it wasn't the culprit. On a final note, you will probably get better results if you post in the request a price quote forum.
Good luck

code P0253?

Is this a death blow to the VP44?
No start
Good fuel pressure
12v power to the VP44 (should idle)
Three injectors loose and no fuel during cranking.

P0253 (M) Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve
Open Circuit
Problem sensed with fuel circuit internal to fuel injection
pump.
Sounds to me like yes it is unfortunately.

p1693 is a dead vp. according to the scanner. And no fuel at injectors and the pump has power.
