dies on decel
So here's the problem. Took my '99 ctd in 2 months ago to the local diesel performance shop. I had before going in, juice with attitude, 40hp injectors, airaid air filter, 4" exhaust. The problem I had was that the fuel pressure was dropping to zero even at 1/4 throttle. Had the updated in tank pump from dodge and was allready on my third injector pump. I wanted a better fuel pump than the dodge one, so I went with the raptor pump. While he installing the pump finds the head gasket leaking. Removes the head, sends it out to the machine shop and it has 7 cracks in it. So new head and pump later it still has no fuel pressure. So a remaned injector pump goes in. Now here comes the problem. I pick it up, go down the road to the stop sign. Push in the clutch (5spd) and when the rpm drops to 800 it starts surging a few times between 400 and 800 and then dies. It will fire right back up though. It happens more when I have to stop quickly, push in the clutch and hit the brakes. I can keep it from dieing if I bring the rpms down slowly. The performance shop changed the pump to another remaned one and it still does it. It also has 90hp injectors in it now. It also won't fire right away after it has been sitting for awile. It acts like there is air in the system, but there are no fuel leaks. The performance shop couldn't figure it out so I took it to the local dealership and they couldn't figure it out either. Any ideas? '99 2500 4x4, 5spd, regular cab service box. Leveling kit, 35"s, jacobs exhaust brake, stock turbo, edge juice with attitude, 90hp injectors, airraid, 4" turbo back.

Wow,you have me stumped. Hopefully someone else on here will have an idea. Did you check the obvious, fuel filter? Otherwise ihe only thing I can think of is air in the system.

this may sound a little stupid but, have you checked for water in the old tank. these old truck because of the mounting straps will hold water in the pockets or bowls created in the bottom of the tank. these reason for the question is--this pump keep replacing use to be quite reliable even if the transfer pump went out. also where are you getting the remans from? anything can rebuilt a 1000 different ways and only 1 way is correct.
