Feels like jumpin' out of overdrive????
Does anyone have any advice? My '01 5.9 Cummings Auto w/ overdrive feels like it is jumping out of overdrive. This has been going on since I bought the truck with 145,000 miles but it has gotten progressively worse. Transmission rebuild had no effect. I'll be drivin' down the road and when it's in a pull it feels almost like you've put your foot on the brake pedal. It has just recently started doing it in drive, too. It's in the shop now, there are no codes showing up, and the guy says there is VERY little fluctuation in throttle control readings. He is suggesting that a new $500 throttle sensor might fix the problem. Has anyone else run into this? This is gettin' ridiculous!!!

Yep, common problem. Here's the TC lockup switch howto I made. This will get rid of the computer locking up the trans all together, or should I say not locking it up. TC switch howto (with pics) And this was brought to my attention the other day on a work around. I've not tried it yet... https://www.atsdiesel.com/PDF/120505...%2047%20RE.pdf I'm not sure how that might or might not affect any tapped boxes. I'll try it out soon.

You can also try HAPPIBOX.com It has worked well for me. I think the ats method is cheaper though. This is a common problem and I had it bad, but since the box - no more problem.

$110? The TC switch and the ATS fix are less than $10 total.

For those less willing to "adjust" their factory wiring, DTT sells a noise filter for $67.

I actually had this happen on my 98.5 cummins. Believe it or not, all I did was take some sand paper to the battery terminals and cables to get a better contact/connection. Having dirty connections here can cause a significant amount of "noise" in the electrical system. Try it out, it's free...
