Brake lights out

It's happened twice now, took about 4000 miles to happen originally. Then another 1000 miles and it's blown out again.

20 amp fuse, only non stock item is the brake controller. And it doesn't happen with the trailer is plug in. So I'm guessing it's not the trailer. The dealer checked the brake light switch which seems to be working properly.

Any ideas? Tonight I'm going to check the ground wires on the tail lights, 3rd brake light and the trailer brake controller.

Yes , the brake controller was installed the first time it did it. I could unplug it and test it out, but like I said it took over 1k miles to blow again. And I pull the trailer on a pretty regular basis.

Brake lights

Had the same problem in 2004. After going through several fuses, I found the problem to be the bulb socket contacts. Dealer had to replace the assy., and said this was common. I thought they had done a fix on this problem, but you might check anyway.
