Truck Wont Start

i'm posting this for my father inlaw he has a 99 3500 no mods no gauges just a stock truck he bought a superchip from a friend of his he programed the truck after programing th truck he took if for a test run went about a mile down the road and i shut off......he call me to tow him back to the house when we got back to the house it fired up and ran but if you gave it so trottle i ran real rough and shut off ....... well his fuel gauge doesn't work so he got soem fuel and put in 10gal after putting fuel in it........it fired up and ran fine drove it around for about 10 min thougth it was fine turned it off went back the next day to move the trcuk wouldn't start.........tryed the key code check and nothing happens....tried the computer check with the superchip and no codes........ i have notice that the lp is not working but unsure of the ip.........but like i said no codes so not sure of the ip if it is shot so any help be nice thanx

I would for sure get a fuel pressure reading to start with, that way he doesnt burn up that IP. If you dont hear the LP, chances are thats whats wrong. but just a guess, thats where i would start. keep us posted!!

well i took the banjoe bolt loose on the filter and bump the starter and no fuel so i guess i will change the lp first and see what we get

When was the last time the filter was changed? might be something to look at also.

it was replaced the same day that fuel was put into tank

ok guys i got a new lp put on got good fuel to the vp44 but still nothing just turns a turns but no crank and no codes any ideas i guessing that the vp44 is bad just not getting codes any help would be nice

Open a few injector lines that enter the head and crank the engine, hopefully you will have fuel coming from the line. Be careful there can be a lot of pressure that will spray out of there.

The cycling the key does not work on '98.5 or '99s. You need to have the codes read or some parts stores will loan the scanner with a deposit. Sounds like a failed VP44 though. He needs gauges if he's going to run bombed!

OK. I know nothing about Superchips ability to read codes. So if no codes thrown, what's his problem? Unless it's a fuel supply/quality problem I would think there would be a code. I'm doubting the Superchips ability, but I'm certainly no expert, especially on 24 valves and Superchips.

Sounds like you ran out of fuel and need to bleed the lines for air.

i guess i will try to bleed the lines but will the vp44 pump fuel if its bad......and what do yall thank about a shade tree tring to replace it with the right tool or should i leave it up to dodge
