Maximum fuel?? - NC
What is the maximum amount of fuel in cc's that I can pull from a VE pump with all of the various mods available? What is the maximum rpm I could run with a fully modded VE pump and still have at least a seasons worth of longevity? Thanx

With the 14mm pump at 500rpm's on the test stand I got 366cc's with air and then when we checked it at 850 rpm's it went down to 290cc's. Test stand rpm's= x2 motor rpm's. With the 12mm pump I got 200cc's at 500 rpm's and then at 850 I got 180cc's. On another stock pump I only got 150cc's max fuel. I think alot of that had to do with the head/rotor. I think it was worn out, because that was the only thing different. I use the same pump with the two different heads/rotors. Another thing to think about is your pump may be able to put out so much fuel, but your injectors might not be able to flow all of it. Longevity ??? A stock pump will last a pretty long time, but the 14mm pumps are still pretty new and they are still being tested. Stomp

Thoughts
So heres where I am goin with this. If Mr. Banks only needs 220 cc's to make 700+ hp on good air, then it should be repeatable, by anyone willing to take the time. From what I read and see, most others are pumpin most of their fuel out the tailpipe. So I am startin fresh, buildin the twins in my own design, then addin bigger injectors, then playin with the pump. My design should allow same or less than ambient for air temps at the intake ;o) I have read no reason to beleive otherwise, that if the pump is set up right, then smokeless power like Banks is very possible - meaning using all of the fuel injected. Come hell or high water I think we can approach high 600's or even break 700on a VE if done right. Wouldnt it be fun to put the run on some P-pumps lol.. From what I see, it just takes a different perspective on how to do it, So Stomp - tell me about your pump, here or in private, please. I also see your usin 370's with your VE, something everyone else on here said was impossible - so I am all ears as I have both POD's and 370 marines to play with. Thanx Ken

There isn’t anything special about my pump. I don’t know what to tell you guys. All internal parts are stock. The big pump has a 14mm head/rotor and the 12mm pump is a stock pump. I do have them set up on a test stand to find there max values. I put the 370's in about 7 years ago before I even knew what POD's were. I had them in for a while and then I took them back out and had them honed out stage 3. I still have them, but they are not in my pickup at this time. I am trying some 185's out that I had honed out. I don’t really have any data on them yet. I have some other problems that I am working on. I did get the 14mm pump on, but with the other problems that I have right now it isn’t running very good. I will probably take these injectors out and put my 370 back in or I have a set of Dynomite diesels stage 4 injectors. The reason I wanted to get away from the 370's is the constant haze. I have yet to get the stage 4's on the dyno with a good pump so I dont know if they are better or worse than the 270's power wise. The ve pump is a good pump for makeing HP. When most p-pumps make about 1.5+/- or so HP per cc of fuel I was making 2.2+/- hp per cc of fuel. So Banks was making 3.18hp per cc of fuel. I find that hard to believe since no one else has been able to do it, but what do I know. Stomp

370's
Hi Stomp What did you do t install the 370's, as Iwas told here the lines would not bolt up? I was also told also that the Ve pump would not run the 370's due to different POP pressures? Did yo umodify the injectors or pump for pressure? Are you running two different sets of lines depending on injector? What is the 14mm head and rotor off of? Is it readily available? and a striaght bolt on? I probably have more questions but that will do to start ;o) Thanx in advance for your time Ken

We used the lower part of the 370 bodies and then used the tops off a set of stockers that I had laying around. That way I didnt have to get custom lines made up to run them. I have thought about having some made up, because there is allot more options for p-pump injectors. I am not sure what a stock 370 pops off at. I usually have mine set up to 4000 psi or 280 bar. Stock VE injectors pop off at 245 bar or 3550psi. Most will say that 280 bar is too high for the ve pump. It does cause more stress on the pump, but mine have been set up that high for years. Do you get more power by setting them up that high, I dont have enough testing to say that you do. My injection shop says that they will attomize better when they are set up that high. I also have done allot of things that people say wont work, but I do it anyways. How else are we going to find out if it works or not. The 14mm head has been out for a little over a year. There is no application for these they were built in Germany. The guy that had them built is in Kentucky. Readily available???? If you go over to diesel-central.com you can see where it all started. Here is the actual thread http://diesel-central.com/forums/def...d&TopicID=2549 Stomp

Wow!!
Anybody wanna buy a 160 hp P7100 pump. I cant see goin through all the hassles of changeover when the VE appears to make enough fuel even without the 14mm head. Thats some real intersting stuff in those posts. Would the 2 stroke oil thing be good on the VE pump in order to solve the lubrication issues? Can the VE pump withstand 25-30 psi supply all the time or must it be boost referenced. I have a boost reference electric race pump and regulator already, so thats an easy fix. Is there any real good color photos of the internal mods to the VE ie the pin, cone, etc,? that can be posted here, either as a pic, or a link? Sounds like a few of you might be able to provide them given the number of pumps on the bench that I read about. If its top secret please email me, lol. I live up here in Ontario Canada so not so many places that do performance work. Thanx in advance for any help that can be provided.

I think your all nuts for pushing the VE that far, but all of us are nuts in one sense or another for doing what we do to our trucks. Keep up the good work tho!

Pump
I hope not to get in trouble here for pump sale. It is a 95 160 hp with 165000 miles on it according to the guy I purchased it from. I paid $400 US for it plus shipping. I would trade it for stuff I need. I need a pyro, am looking for a water/alky setup, piping/exhaust, etc Let me know if your interested either here or pm. Thanx Ken

Ken, No, you won't get in trouble but please post the pump for sell in the classifieds. State if you have all the fuel lines and stuff as well as injectors. I'll leave this here for a couple of days to give you time. There are guidelines to follow and they are all posted over there. You can list it in the first gen section as a conversion or in the 94-98 12 valve area.
