possible injection pump recall information - NS
The following was supplied by Pastor Bob. Early 1st Gen injector pump recall number (605) A shipment of pumps in 1991 from a supplier were developing problems by 1994 so they did a recall to replace them. If you don't have a truck maunfactured within this timeline then the recall does not pertain to you......Unless your pump was replaced under warranty before 1994 in which case they would again replace your pump because the faulty pumps were also installed during the warranty period from dealer stock. If you are a good debater and you replaced you pump in the 90's at a dealer, I don't believe they have any way to prove that you didnt get a bad pump Pumps manufactured between March and September, 1991 (date codes 163 through 169) without an infinity symbol on the data plate or tag (rebuilt pumps). On the pumps after this, the data plates and tags have an infinity symbol on the right side. This is what the service tech is looking for. It says, "If date code is 163 through 169 and no infinity symbol is present, replace pump". This info comes from page 3 of the actual Recall service procedure. The specific pump in question was Bosch # 0 460 426 184, Cummins # 3918991.They were replaced with Bosch 0 460 426 205, Cummins 3923346.

Help, my truck has one of the replaced pumps
I want to buy a new pump for my truck as I want a backup, I take my truck on long road trips and if I have pump problems I want to have all the parts in my truck if I need them. Where is the best place to buy a new Bosch 0 460 426 205, Cummins 3923346? I found one on ebay but I stopped bidding at 1500 because I did not know if was one of the recalled pumps that was hanging around a dealership parts department. Also does anyone have a copy of the step procedure required to change the pump on my 92 12 Valve 6B Dodge engine? Thanks in advance. Reg |
