Transfer case fluid

Ok, so I just put my newly rebuilt transmission and goreend converter in my truck. I'm ready to install the transfer case. and I'm wanting to change the fluid. Should I run an ATF transmission fluid or go with a gear oil? Also whats the oil capacity? Its a gear driven transfer and my truck is a 91.5 with an A518. Any info is always greatly appreciated.

According to the 1991 FSM:

For the NP205
Multi-purpose gear oil (API GL-5) or engine oil (API SG, SG/CD, or SG/CE)

I've personally never seen a 205 that used ATF.

I've run Gear lube or straight 30wt engine oil, and never had a problem. As long as you adhere to the above oil specs, you should be fine.
