1993 cummins

Hello, I am looking at buying my son a 1993 Dodge cummins with a 5 speed. I am wondering how this year of cummins is? as well as the 5 speed transmission. as i said its a 1993, with a 5 speed manual. four door flat bed. 200.000 miles. what kind of fuel mileage can we expect? is this engine and transmission any good? i have had three cummins pickups, a 1998 (12 valve), 2001, 2004 and loved every one of them, (except the 1998 had an automatic) thanks..

#1. they didn't make a 4dr in 93.

#2. it's the most dependable cummins they made, i have had a 95, 97, 99,
by far the best one i have had.

#3 can you post some pics and maybe a price ? maybe we can keep you from buying something you will regret.

#4 talk to the guy see if he will admit it's been converted to a 4dr cab.

#5 a 360 getrag is a good trans if you don't abuse it.

thats all i got right now, with the amount of info we have.

Some Dodge dealerships sold a 4door truck.Look at the framerails and check the welds where the streched the frame, the reason you dont see them is the shop that did the job butt welded the frame and didnot reinforce the frame. I saw the work they did.And know of 2 trucks that the frames broke at the welds.

we bought the truck, you can easily see where the frame was cut, streched and fishplated. it looks like a professional job. the truck is actually pretty sweet. has 354 gear ratio, rolls down the road really good. ill post pics as soon as i figure out how..

Sorry pardner, Dodge never made an 89-93 4dr with a cummins from the factory.

alot of people have converted them though.

The end of the Crew Cab 4-door was 1985 I believe. I could see a dealership doing the work to sell one, but it would not be anything I'd consider close to Factory. Even 'Dealer Installed' is stretching things a bit.
cheers,
Douglas
