got a leak

went out to start my truck this morning and found a small puddle of diesel after it warmed up. it looks like it is coming from the back of the pump? there is a rubber piece that has a very small hose lookin thing coming out of the side. it pops off what i think is the fuel screw but not sure. got any answers?

O-ring on the fuel pin is leaking. The top will most likely have to come off and replace it.

I dought if a dime store o-ring will work. They don't hold up against diesel fuel to good. Plus that o-ring is small in dia, but it is thicker than a normal o-ring. Even a metric o-ring.

You would need a Ve reseal kit to acquire the correct o-ring.

This is exactly what happened to mine yesterday - started it up after work, and there was a steady dripping from the shut-off solenoid area, about 3 drips every 2 seconds.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but is resealing the VE a job someone can do easily? I'm in BC, are there any places that sell kits? Thanks.

well i was just gonna order my kit off ebay. no u dont have to pull the whole pump off to get to it. there are 4 allen head screws i believe you have to take out along with the TPS if urs is a newer auto and the banjo bolt and then u should be able to pull the top half of the pump off to get to the seal. the seal will be on the bottom half of the top part u pull off and then if you look inside the pump u will see the govenor spring. i havent had the top off mine yet but i will here in the near future.

The black rubber piece is a cover for the AFC vent. When the AFC diaphragm moves it displaces air so the cover must be vented. Get yourself some very detailed instructions cause this is not a simple little job if you have never done it before.
90powerram- what part of BC? I'm in PG- maybe I can help.

if its coming from underneath the diaphragm then you will need to replace the fuel pin seal cause there shouldnt be diesel laying underneath there
