does it mater how far in you screw in the star wheel? i went all the in and then loosend it half a turn and i turned the fuel pin 90 from stock. i also turned the fuel screw all the way in and then half a turn back out and i turned the smoke screw in flat with the jam nut. did i go to far?

the starwheel you can screw all the way to the bottom. instead of turning the cone 90deg from stock its better to take it out and look and mark when the deepest setting is.also mark where the stock setting is just in case you decide to put it back. fuel screw meaning the screw on the back of the pump. on some pumps it can be turned in all the way without running away but others it will run away. id say that screw is fine where its at. smoke screw you can actually go in even farther but its fine where its at

p.s. have fun with the idle screw

if you hace access to a die grinder or dremal then grind some off the end of the screw. grind a little and test until the idle is where you want it. i left mine a little higher than stock, maybe 1000 rpm's. you can make the smoke screw nil and void by removing the spring. the spring holds the pin up restricting the amount off fuel you can get until the turbo spools. no spring = full fuel all the time.

same what I did to my idle. I did no pump mod other than turning the smoke screw all the way and I lowered the idle to 550 rpm, cause in my opionion it sounded better, and smoked a load when I smashed it to the floor

it can with a modified pin or an after market pin. if the needle is allowed to extend itself out all the way then it can start to leak as mine did. i used a belt sander to custom grind my pin and it is really DEEEEP. my pump drips now non stop. not a bad leak but still.... i think if you removed the spring and kept the stock or near stock pin that would give you full fuel without problems. your denny t is made with a much steeper ramp so you probably wouldn't gain anything by removing the spring and may develope a leak like mine.

that is mighty low. i wonder what the oil pressure is and if thing are getting lubricated as they should. also, that big cloud of black smoke is unburned fuel. the reason you are getting so much smoke is your cylinders are probably washed in fuel, at that low rpm the egt's at idle have to be low. too low exhuast temp can end up with un burned fuel running past the rings and into your oil. bad bad news. your truck should idle at least 750 rpm and i have mine set a little high at around 1000

1000rpm is to high. I liked it as is. and 750 is standard idle for the cummins. I liked mine as I had it

1000 is high and i will need to take it down when i install a good converter. i do not know for sure if it is really turning 1000. i am totally guessing. lets say it's higher than stock for sure.
