newbi with lots of questions

hello, im new to the forum, i have some questions about my dads truck, its a 1990 3/4 ton, 4x4. what make of transfercase is in the truck, im trying to get enough info so i can make a new mount from the 3 speed auto to the transfercase, i also want to know how i can make a little extra power without sacrafise to the fuel economy. it has a little under 200k recorded kilometers on it, probably closer 2 240k. Thanks

well. max out your pump. get bigger injectors and turbo. do this all by gloing here Turning up the pre 94 Ram diesel injector pump
and fuel miliage depends on how you drive

how does the motor respond to the power, does it loose the longevity? Thanks for the link.

the motor will have more torque and hp. and the only way it will mess it up is if you rag on it, and run that engine really hot. all the mods in that link, were designed when they built the ve pump. so i guess you could say they were meant to be tweaked lol. its the same thing as puttin a chip or programmer on a newer truck... it feeds more fuel to the engine

Welcome!! Your dads truck should have the np205 transfer case.

If you do not have a pryo installed on that nonIC truck. Be very carefull on turning it up. It has bigger injectors that a IC truck. The turbo is smaller than a IC truck. It doesn't take much to get into EGT problem.

so before i do any tweeking im gettin a set of gauges, im also doing some research on the possibly of mounting an intercooler under the hood, if thats possible that is

You just get a 1st gen intercooler and bolt it in. Then plumb it to the turbo and engine. Try and find a wrecked I/C truck so you can steal as many parts out of it as possible, and when your taking the parts out, you will know how to put them back in on your truck.

i think i'll take the easyiest way and try and find a first gen intercooler. Do the first gen ic motors have a differnt turbo? Thanks for the help so far lol
