Power Steering and Brakes

My power steering doenst work, and my brakes ar hard as a rock the last couple days. Its been 5 degrees below freezing. Once I let the motor warm up its fine. My breaks are super touchy then too, I keep locking them up around town,

my power stering fliud was a little low, I will see if that helps, a mechanic told me to check out the line from the break booster to the vacuum pump near the ps pump, I checked it out, and it seems soft, but no cracks, could this be a problem?

I've noticed some PS fluids get thicker in the cold. One car I had you needed to rock the steering wheel back and forth to get things flowing. Grabby brake could be contaminated linings, but a hard peddle when cold, that's a new one on me.

I had the same power steering problems on my truck, when it was cold it took a bit before it would work, I flushed the fluid because the stuff in there was all dark and grungy looking. Havent had a problem since. Also had the touchy brake deal, probably fluid on the shoes (brake fluid or gear oil) in my case it was a leaky drivers side wheel cylinder.

thanks chris I will check it out, I put some of that lucas crap, in my ps in the summer hoping it would stop a leak, it didnt, and i wouldn't recomend using it if you live in a cold climate, it gets pretty thick, I bet you couldn't get it out of the bottle at 15 degrees below freezing,( as I was gonna add more the other day) I think I will flush it out
