There was a blue 1stgen at Scheids diesel extravagaza last weeekend that had the flex-a-lites universal truck kit on it and it had about 1/2 clearance to the front of the water pump.

I hear the flex-a-lite are only recommended for a CGVW of less than 18000.
From there website: "Electric fans are not recommended for primary diesel engine cooling when the combined gross vehicle weight (CGVW) exceeds 18,000 pounds (truck, trailer and load)"

What would you be using the space for? If you are doing it for a horsepower mod, for the money that you spend you can get more horsepower other ways.

there is a company selling fans on ebay. they have some good quality fans but the wiring is kinda crappy.

my friends dad bought them for his 04 gmc 3500 6.0L. he tows a 32foot rv and tells me about his fan clutch kicking on up hill and sucking power plus the motor heating up.

the kit he ordered was the HD fans. 2 16inch fans that put out a combined 7200 CFM. they have worked great for him, he says better mileage, quicker warm ups and cool downs. his radiator is 34inch wide.

while he was installing them i took my old radiator and mocked them up, they will fit but its real close and you have to stagger them because my radiator is only 32inch wide but also up to 91 has top and bottom tanks and after that they are side tanks so I'm not sure.

the fans are double ball bearing sealed units with 8 S-blades. they are quiet but push alot of air.

here is a link. they make kits for 2nd gen trucks and up but nothing for us.
