H1E for FREE

Is it worth it ???

Since I've currently got an H1C with an 18.5 turbine, the 20 that's on it shouldn't be too hard to spool.

I've also got an extra set of stocks stick that I can rework to 6X12's ( or larger ).

If this thing wasn't free, I'd wait until I had some cash and pick up an S300 or an HX40.

What to do

Hey, Philip....How's your run with your 6X18's and a '40 ??

I don't have any problems spooling it. My pump isn't turned up eather. Or lets say it isn't turned up any farther than the pump shop that rebuilt it for Dodge. The lock nut is against the lock ring. It was like that when I knocked the cap off a couple of months ago.

If your coming down to the S.O.P. meet I'll take you for a ride.

That 20 housing will be a slow spooler. It will most likely have a T4 flange also. You need a T3 flange. They do make adapters from T3 to
T4. But they are kind of proud of them in the price deptartment.

I would look for something with a 16cm housing and a T3 flange.

There's a guy over at 1stGen.org that just made a hybrid with a H1E/H1C, if I remember right he posted a full wright up with pic's and he seems pretty happy with it. If it's free it's definitely worth checking out.

Local diesel tech says he can get me a good S300 reasonable. That's where I'd rather go.
This was just a 'Gee, will this work' moment.
And it's not totally free - it's a 200 mi drive there and 200 back....At the price of Diesel -----

And yes, Philip - I was planning on being there at S.O.P. IF my trans gets fixed !!!
Found a bad front drum, overdrive piston and retainer and servo for the band apply.....In addition to the $1100 in parts I've already spent....
Well I knew this wasn't new or rebuilt, and I guess it's still better than $2800 - 3000 or more !!!

USPS would ship that turbo for under $20. If the guy has a printer you could email him the prepaid postage and he could drop at the postoffice. That's cheaper than the S300. You'll pay 800 for a 58/62/16 that won't be any better than the H1C/E Hybrid. The compressor housing and wheel will work right on your shaft. Easy swap. May be an hour to do.
