right fueling for 64/71/14???

im new here to the ve trucks, i have a very potent 24v and a mild 12v, but working on a buddy of mine's ve truck and hes looking to get 500 or over to do some local pulling with us, and well to just have some fun..... ive allready got the turbo and downpipe, know im doing to do and exhaust manifold headstuds, intake plate, and putting my old 24v intercooler in it, oh yea its a stock non intercooled truck to start with, basically i was wondering about the fuel upgrades, what will be needed to be done to the pump and what are some good injectors that i could run.... any help woulld be appreciated, from one cummins lover to another

Ppump, 370's or custom, Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, -10AN bulkhead fitting in bottom of tank to ppump. That should get you started.

500 on a VE is possible, but tough. Is he ok with 400? That's easier

An HT3B to go with that 64 would help. Lots of fuel, lots of air...a cam....and plenty of money.

I've got a 64/14 from Industrial Injection, some 150 horse injectors (4x.016), a built pump (by Mountaineer Diesel in WV), and a 4in tbe and it is pretty laggy, especially with me tuning the pump, lol. I can get some of the lag out of it if I crank down the AFC, but then my EGT's are uncontrollable. I've got the AFC one turn down from the top and the pump timed almost clear to the head and it hits about 1400-1450 at the highest. Ireally just need a 62/12 but I'm afraid it won't flow enough air and me EGT's will be even higher, it would be much more practical daily driving though.

Part of the problem is those 4 hole injectors and another problem is air in and out.

Before I ditched that 64, I would seriously look into swapping in a cam. A 181/210 Hamilton made a night and day difference in spooling my turbo. It's letting more air into the cylinders along with pushing a lot more out and driving the turbo harder and, as a result, pushing more air back into the motor. It's a viscous cycle

BTW, a 4x.016 is only a little larger than a 5x.014. A 62mm will cool those fine, but again, a 4 hole injector is going to burn hotter anyway. It would be completely different with a 5, 6 or 7 hole nozzle.

You won't make 600 horses with a single on a VE unless you've got a lot of nitrous But injector choice is up to you. Depends on if you want a VCO or a SAC nozzle and how much fuel you need. Do you care if you can't drive it normally without blacking out a 4 lane highway?

There's a sweet 93 ex cab on here lurking around that has twins on it and runs 12.7X 1/4 miles. I saw it put down 489 hp. You can make power with a VE, but it's no where near as easy as running a P-Pump.
