full fuel question
i got my new truck and today i went to turn up the pump. turned the pin 90* the star wheel was only ten clicks from bottom and the smoke screw was already below the nut a bit. the full fuel screw was turned to the collar.
I removed the collar and reinstalled the screw. when i tried to turn it past where it had been set it came tight very quick. I checked the threads and the lock nut was not touching of course. Has anybody run into this? Could a part be seized or do some pumps not have alot of room to adjust 92 dont know how to fill out my sig lol |

I know exactly what you mean, I'm sure you filed out the threads fine, here's what it is: the little o ring is bottoming out and the screw can't go in any further. This happened to me. The only ways to deal with it are A) get the number off your pump and call cummins and get them to send you a new screw, and cross your fingers that its a longer one. I tried this and they sent me a larger diamiter... No use to me..
B) find a guy who can weld, and add 1/8"ish inch to the tip of the screw. Make sure to grind it round a polish it so it doesn't cause harm inside the pump. And don't forget about runaway!!

My 92 did the same thing and I was wondering if you could just get a longer bolt with the same thread size and use a bolt instead of the stud???

yeah but you would need to make sure it has a place to put a o-ring, so no fuel comes leaking out.

dont just take it to a buddy who has a stick welder. find somebody who knows how to weld or have an extra screw on hand that you know fits your truck. too high of voltage and your not going anywhere cause the tip will melt off. also, measure it before and after, with a dial indicator so you know exactly what you've gotten yourself into. that measurement will also help you when you put it back in, so you dont go too far in and hit runaway, start near stock settings and work your way in slowly.

Has anyone ever taken it and have some silver sodder thrown on the end of the screw instead of welding it? I think that's what I might try if I can't get it to runaway when I turn my fuel screw.
