exhaust opinion poll

I'm planning on ordering my exhaust real soon, i have a friend that can get me a decent price on the bully dog 4" system, but it seems like bully dog doesn't really make anything good for 1st gens. I've heard of stans exhaust, looks like its expensive and doesn't come with hangers. I'm open to suggestions. i will not be running a muffler and i really don't want to have to pay for one AND but a delete pipe!

egts are pushing 1350* on stock sticks, and the truck is so quiet.... for now.....

IIRC I've read the Bully Dog 4" isn't a true 4" exhaust. It's 3.5" but I'd get someone else to substantiate that before taking my word for it.

I bought mine from Source Automotive. I bought the straight pipe instead of the muffler and it saved me $30. It didn't come with hangers either. But the price was decent and it works and sounds good imo.

I thought the Stans kit did come with the hangers?

orderd stans today, almost 650 shipped. i got the straight pipe, no muffler. they claim the muffler makes more hp because it acts as a expansion chamber that allows hot exhaust to expand in it and create less pulsing of preasure withen the system. sounds a bit nutty to be but they claim to have proven it on a dyno.

lol man in that case i saved $650 dollars....my local diesel shop gave me some 4'' pipe he had laying around and one of my friends gave me a stainless silverline 4'' tail-pipe just had to weld the rear hanger to frame. works incredibly. only thing that cost me was the 4-6inch tip thats on there from silverline.

in my opinion its one thing to have a 4" that someone pieced together then crush bent in the turns and another to have a mandrel system. The stock system was 3" but when they were done beating on it and crushing it to make it fit around the xfer case it was probably 2".

I had a straight pipe on my other truck but it made a wicked drone in the cab at towing speed, you can probably minimize this with a turn down.

Nope, the Bully Dog system is a true 4", but it comes with a 3" Downpipe.
