cummins7 that gage pod is N/A now. It was for 1st gen's. I don't know the company name that made it. When those rounded trucks came out in 94. Those pods went N/A like most all aftermarket accessiores for our trucks.

Caution, LONG idea
A custom idea I had a while back was for a blow off valve. If you get out of the gas fast, such as shifting a 5 speed, the turbo will surge of bark. If you let out fairly slowly and just coast it takes the turbo a few seconds to spool down and lose all its speed. Boost pressure drops quickly but its still spinning pretty good. If you shift super fast, you may keep a little boost as you grab the next gear, but the pressure in the pipes still wants to exits back through the compressor and slows it down faster. When you get back on it you have to speed it back up. Of coarse a typical blow off valve does not work with diesel engines as they have no throttle plate. But what if we could get a blow off valve to work. This releases all the pressure in the intake tube. Yes, you would lose all your boost, but the turbine speed would stay up and my thought was even though now you must represurize the intake system the turbo speed is still at speed. Maybe? Kinda? I don't know? Ok for the actual "making a BOV valve work" part. Rig it up on the the charge air tube right by the turbo. Instead of using manifold vacuum to open it as on a gasser, use the vacuum our vacuum pump makes that is set up on a air solenoid (such as the ones guys use as a valet switch). When the valve is open, it would allow vacuum to enter the top side of the BOV and open it. To control this valve my idea was 2 criteria must be met. 1. Hobbs switch set at maybe 5 psi?? This would keep the valve closed if were under 5 psi. 2. A micro switch on the throttle so that when you let off the gas, this switch goes to the ON position. If you are above 5 psi but at no throttle, the BOV would open. If you let off from a hard pull it would stay open until it got under 5 psi. If you are at any throttle position other than idle, the valve will not open. The real key is finding a BOV that will not open at 40+psi, or it will overcome the internal spring WITHOUT needing vacuum applied. Find one with a spring that will stand up to whatever boost you push, then when you add the vacumm it will open. I have not tried this yet, but when I get a little extra $$$ I may give it a shot. Could help spoolup between shifts, and also never bark the turbo again. And yes, run a BOV with a muffler so you don't sound like a wanna be ricer ![]() What you all think? Am I nuts![]()
