BTW Cap'n,
They are using an IssPro programmable tach. If you are also, then you'll be slightly off when you set the input to 2...Not enough info for the tach.
I - like them - had to tweak the fine adj on the back...The tach was reading ~ 50 rpm off according to an optical tach I have.
But now - it's right on.

OH, the engines not running in this pic that's why the tach show 0 rpm......

Aloha UnixCowboy,

I'm writing from a Linux machine now. Ubuntu.

Regarding the tach, that was a post from a long time ago. I'll have to wind-up the WayBack machine pretty tight to remember the details.

Actually, I don't really care about a 50 RPM difference between actual and indicated. As long as my top RPM is not 8000, then I know I'm driving the right truck.

Aloha, Dean.

Hi Cap'n ....
Long time no hear...

I'll be in your neck of the world ~ 5th or 6th of Mar. Leaving this cold for a couple of weeks.

BTW - I found an 8000 tach that I got working on the Cummins. I just mentally divide by 2 to get my RPM's.

Sure drove a friend crazy when I took him for a ride to show off my new sticks. He saw the tach and thought I was actually turning 6500 rpm

I didn't have the heart to let him believe that so I told him the truth later in the day - but he was sure I'd modified the engine somehow to get to spin that fast...

If you're coming to the Big Island on the Kona side, stop by and see me at Keahole Solar Power Plant in the Natural Energy Lab (NELHA).
