Either the sending unit is goin out or there's a bad ground/connection on the gauge.
You need to trace all your grounds an make sure all have good contact. Then trace all your hots. The gauge could be gettin interference from a bad hot or ground in the dash or under the hood.

That's not fun
I was hoping someone would have a specific ground to look at
No kiddin! But with older trucks it's never that simple I'm workin on a 1960 ford F100 swb 12 valve swap an I just gutted all the wiring and went with a whole new harness. It was easier than tracing everything an replacing/repairing all the bad spots!
Oh yeah an this lil ford is gonna be tubbed an rockin a hood stack!
Mine is gonna stay the faded (patina) turquoise with white top that it has now. I'm a long ways away from bein complete but it'll get there.............eventually
Well ol Roxanne has been sitting on the curb for the last two weeks. I broke a pitman arm turning around in the street with a trailer.
Both my trucks broke down the same weekend and both are still broken.
At least the 1st gen proved herself by doing this before the pitman shattered:
I ordered a new drop pitman and steering box from red head along with new ps pump and high pressure line.
Right now I'm trying to get the old ps pump off of the vacuum pump so I can begin reassembly. Pics to follow.
I bought a roll of fat mat off a buddy so that'll be going in soon also.
maybe the gauge is bad, 1999-2005 chevy trucks tend to do the same thing because the stepper motors from the factory are bad, i would try a junkyard cluster
