2nd/3rd gen wheels on a 1st gen?

i have done some reading and i am need of new wheels and tires, i know the steel 2nd gen wheels will fit with no mods just the 2nd gen lug nuts, i have also read the 2nd gen aluminums need 2" spacers but i can only find 1.5" or 3" spacers on ebay, anyone know where i can get 2" or will the 1.5" make the wheels clear the calipers. lastly what mods need to be done to get 3rd gen wheels on and fit right, thanx in advance for the help

Everyone I have spoken with has told me all other wheels took a little modification or the off-set is incorrect.

Thus, I use only the OEM wheel on my 2WD trucks. They work great. Don't look so hot. But they are workimng well.

Also I use the Ford OEM. They work with out mods.

3rd gen rims will fit on the 1st gen and 2nd gen trucks, no mods....
I got 3rd gen chrome factories on my 2nd gen, we had them on a 1st gen 1 night just to see if they fit, this was a 4x4 though.......

don't use 2nd gen wheels either. they are only a 7in wide wheel with very little back spacing. I put them on my w250 and they looked worse than the stock wheels. i have seen a 1st gen with the late model 2nd gen aluminum wheels and it looked ok.

They will fit, but mine rub on the tie rod ends. pretty bad. I had to grind them to clear.
