All chevy and dodge 8 lug are the same as the pre 1998 ford 8 lug. They are a 8x6.5" bolt center (8x165.5mm)
The 98 and newer fords (technically Ford didn't make an 8 lug truck in 98 so it's really 99 - but that's a side note) are 8x170mm. These wheels can be drilled and steel sleeved to fit though...
2 other things you need to account for besides the lug pattern are the backspacing/offset - which is much higher on newer (2002 and newer typically) trucks. This higher offset will cause the tires to rub on many older tucks when the wheels are turned at full lock.
The last thing you need to worry about is the center bore on the wheel. Some of these center bores (hole in the middle that the hub sticks through) are too small. These can be fixed on a mill though if you want to go through the $/effort.
Now after rambling on all that - I think the 17" hummer wheels will be fine. I've seen them on k5 blzers before and they seemed to work well. These wheels and tires are cheap and easy to find now that all the knuckleheads are putting 20" rims and rubber band tires on those POS'
Will all the 8-lug wheels interchange? Ford / GM / Dodge / etc.
I have a chance to get some 17" Hummer wheels and tires cheap for my 91 Dodge.
Cap'n,
Don't know where the thread is offhand - maybe someone could chime in - but I saw a posting on what it take to mod the Hummer wheels to fit.
Bit of an effort if I remember, BUT -
They LOOK REAL GOOD lol3:

Thanks everyone !! I'm just amazed at the amount of information out here.
I contacted the seller and will have them shipped from Oahu to the Big Island.
This looks like an excellent small project. I will be doing the router method of enlargening the center holes.
Tires for my truck would be $1000 to $1400 and rims would be another [Oh my God]. These tires and rims are coming to me for $750 plus shipping, probably another $100 by barge.

Are you talkin H1 wheels, or wheels off one of those H2 POS'?
I like the wheels off the H2's but that's about it.
If it's H1 wheels you're getting then VERY good score. If they are for the H2, then you might want to look over here a bit. I see the 17" H2 wheels with the stock tires all the time for $300-500 or so. If you can score them from over here it might be cheaper even with shiping from the mainland. Living near LA has it's benefits for stuff like this. People are always taking stock rims and tires off of stuff and putting 37" rims (exagerating obviously) on. It seems every other car/truck I drive by had 20"+ wheels on it, and with so manystock take-offs flooding te maket the prices stay pretty low!
These are the H2 wheels, identical to the ones in UnixCowboy's links in his post.
Shipping things from the mainland is more costly than shipping between islands. The overseas shipping companies have to accumulate enough stuff to fill a 40' container. It also has to go through a Freight Forwarder. The other option is UPS / FedEx which are both Ouch-worthy.
The inter-island shipper will accept a box or stack of tires and put it directly on the barge. No freight forwarders, no UPS / FedEx. One barge comes to the westside of the island each week. Another one goes the eastside each week.
Life is a little different in the middle of the Pacific.
Ah - I knew it was expensive over there (family lives on Kauai), but I didn't know how bad they screw you on shipping from over here. Then again the stuff we send back and forth is usually small/light enough to go UPS without needing to get out the vasoline
Granted the cost of most everything is higher there -
But compared to the weather, and how it it changes here in the 48, I think you've got the better end of the deal.
Especially for those retired that can afford the higher prices.
But I'm enjoying driving around the states and seeing the wonders we have here.
BTW - can't wait to see those wheels on your truck.

Well, we probably do have the upper hand, living in paradise. I'm not a wealthy retired guy, just a working stiff. The weather is ALWAYS good in Kona but now we've got the Vog (Volcano Fog) from Kilauea. The air quality is not much different than LA. HVO Kilauea Status Page
My truck has a long way to go but I'm making progress. A transmission is on the way from Kansas, the tires & wheels are enroute from Oahu, and I still have to paint the 'ol guy.
Six weeks from now I hope to have it back in shape.
