Wild gauges!

I was driving my truck last weekend, first time its went more then 10 miles all winter, and my speedo starts going bazerk. Would not stop sweeping up and down. Luckily I had the GPS in the truck so I could use that for my speed, but why does it do this? I am assuming it has something to do with the flickering lights and spastic gauges (all the others bounce around as well including my Tach and Pyro). Truck charges fine, never has a low battery and when I did check it, it was charging decent. Is this a ground issue or is there something else going on? Oh and it gets worse when I turn the lights on.
Thanks,
Joe

I would definitely check the grounds first and make sure the battery cables arent corroded including good connections to alternator and battery...

Ok thanks for the replies. Tonight I noticed it would do it even with just the key on and the engine off. Looks wierd when the truck is sitting still and the speedo is bouncing like the old Chevy trucks, lol.

Charge controller

That would happen to me when I was having charging problems on my 91. It turned out to be my Charge controller was not grounding properly to the firewall. Good luck
