hooked up tach to factory plug and doesnt work?

I hooked up the Isspro tach to my factory tach plug and it doesnt work? the light on the tach works but thats it, i double checked the wiring??? The CPS is brand new and it works?? how should i check the cps signal? I think I got a bad tach

did you grab the grey wire for the tach feed and is your tach programmable?

yes I used the gray for signal and its the 8503 4k isspro. How would I check the cps signal with a voltmeter?

Test that grey wire against the ground. Probably have more luck with an oscilloscope if you have one laying around.

are you using the isspro harness with the resistor?

mine will make a pattern with the oscilloscope, and my multimeter will show pluses; however my gauge wont work. i assume theres something wrong with the control module and its not pulsing high enough for the gauge to pick it up. gauge works fine with their magnet pickup kit.

Not every 1st gen has the tach plug. Later 92 and 93's did, nothing before then.

ok i have a 93 if i got how and where would i hook it up and can i use a gas tach or does it have to be a diesel only tach. thanks

theres a four pin harness taped under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. nope gas tach wont work. afaik only isspros work.

i found the harness for the 92 dodge but does it tell you how to hook it up and where the wire's go

their 'harness' is a heat shrunk bundle of wires with spade terminals on one end and butt connectors on the other; save $50 or whatever isspro charges and the diagram is in 921stgen's link above.
