any ideas on how to
Trying to get the upper front spring mount bolts out of the springs/bushings....they will not budge!! I have tried to spin them with up to an inch impact!! Still wont come out...any ideas? Should I just try to burn them out with a torch and then buy some new ones? will it hurt the springs by doing this? I don't know if you can still buy new stock bushings or not...seems like this oled 1st gen stuff is getting harder to get parts for at the dealers? |

If your talking about the front spring eye bolts. Take a 4.5" grinder. Install a thin cutoff wheel on it. There should be enough room for the cutoff wheel to go between the spring and the mounting bracket. Cut the bolt completely threw. Then replace the spring eye bushing if your going to reuse the spring. The dealer should be able to get new bushing. I would check NAPA also. I bet they can get them. If NAPA doesn't list it by model. Give them measurements of the old bushing. I bet they can find them that way.

I used a 6 foot cheater pipe and wedged the wrench in the frame to hold the backer. Once I got it spinning I took off the backer wrench and bumped the nut with a hammer while twisting the bolt. Kept working them out that way until I got it flush then used a punch. I got the new bushings installed at a spring shop, only 30 some dollars. Saves having to get a new bolt. Mine had 215k on it when I did it summer of last year.
