What's the intended use of the tires? If you have some time before you buy your tires I can post pics but you'll have to wait because mine aren't on my truck. I use mine as winter tires. I have the Toyo Open Country M-55s (255/85/r16) but they are sitting in my basement at the moment. I'm going to rebuild my kingpins (hopefully next week when the weather is supposed to be better) and then I'm buying some cheap 16x8 steel rims and I'm going to throw them on. With any luck at all they'll be on my truck within a week or week and a half. I like them. My suspension is stock and sagging BAD and they only occasionally rub a little bit. I liked them last winter but I found them to be a little bit wide for the stock rims believe it or not. That's why I'm buying some cheap steel rims that are 16x8. Manufacture suggested rim width is 6.5-8" and I would personally suggest against using the stock rims. They are simply too narrow of a rim at 6" wide.

This probably isn't going to help much but digging through old pictures I found only one with the M-55s on the truck(well sort of...) before I took them off.

Richard thanks for the reply! Your pic kind of gave me a better idea of what the will look like on a truck. My truck seems to sit at least 3 inches taller than all the other 1st gen's around here. The po hauled a slide in camper in it, and i'm thinking he must have put a couple of add a leafs in it. the 235/85's look really small, and have tons of room all around. I really like the "Lumber Wagon" look and the M-55's would really fit the bill, plus they're the only game in town for 10 ply's in that size. I was thinking about running a set of ford 16X7 steel wheels with those. My dad has a 95 F-350 srw with those wheels and I was thinking they should work pretty good. Detroit wheel can get them to me for 65.00 each plus shipping. seems like a good way to go, plus they come painted looking like brand new.Detroit Wheel and Tire: 1995 Ford F350 Pickup Wheels I have some time before i buy them, and I would love to see some more pics of your truck with them on it. |

Well if you want to see how the M-55s look you'll have to wait another week. I just ordered some wheels today and so they won't be in until pretty much next week (Fri) or even the following Monday. Once they get in, I'm throwing the tires on te rims and putting 'em on the old beast for the winter. I bought some black 16x8 steel rims. They'll fit the M-55 tires much better and look better than my stockers lol.

Personally I try to stick with Kelly tires when ever I can. The current set on my w-250 has +70k on them and I am just starting to think about maybe replacing them for added snow traction. Kelly has a Safari TSR that is similar to what I have now and something new called a Fierce Attitude-mud tire that i'm going to be looking into. To the best of my knowledge, still made in the usa and from past experience I definietly recommend staying away from any brand that includes 'stone' within it's name. Get the highest load rating you can for what ever size tire/wheel combo you decide on.

d250 wider ties on stock rims?
d250// wider tires on stock rims?? Since my truck is only 2 wd i have a difficult time on wet grass which i do occasionally. I had cooper ast which did good on wet roads but i would get on alittle incline on wet grass and have a heck of a time. the weight and the moist grass. What can i do with the stock rims? or which rims can i switch too that are not expensive. prefferably i want to stick with the stock rims// cheaper.

Grass ?!? Tires won't help - the rear is too lite. I've got 285R75's Wrangler M+S on the rear and 265R75's on the front of mine and it 'seems' to have improved the ride a little. BUT I can still slide around on grass.

ok here ya go. 16x8" steel wheels with 255/85/R16 Toyo M-55 tires. Tires have about 75% tread left. They aren't the greatest pictures because the sun is low in the sky (it's winter, what can I say) and really bright. There are 5 total. More are here: Pictures by rlebar - Photobucket ![]()
