Love this thread but Patracy, I think the most efficient way to measure efficiency would be to calculate cost/mile with and without the addition of propane. That way the number can be expanded up to any number of miles. Also, it does not reduce fuel consumption, in fact, from what you said, it probably actually increases it a little because it cleans out the injectors a little bit giving them a better chance to spray. Keep up the good work though man. I, along with everyone else, appreciates your knowledge...oh, and testing this moving bomb out on your truck.

takes a crazy SOB to do this but hey, Patton thought he was reincarnated. I'll take the risk.

Let's break down the numbers on traveling 400 miles. Basing 18mpg on diesel.
400 /18 = 22.222 gallons of diesel
22.222 at $4.75 a gallon = $105.56 to travel 400 miles.
We know it burns a tank of propane in 400 miles. So we've got a $16 cost to factor in. HOWEVER, we get 29mpg on diesel during that span. So our diesel consumption is reduced.
400 /29 = 13.8 gallons of diesel
13.8 at $4.75 a gallon = $65.55
$65.55 + $16 = $81.55
$105.56 - $81.55 = $24.01 saved.
