That's not a smart idea unless you have a billet input shaft. Hence the reason that the factory controller unlocks the converter in the condition you described above.

oops on the first part! sorry about that. anywho i do have billet shafts in the trans. still probably not a good idea to shift when locked up huh? well anyway can you lock up the convertor in 2nd as well as 3rd and 4th?
