Their solution to the problem is for me to always ride with the Jake Brake on and to NOT let the engine idle for longer than 15 minutes at a time. I was told that riding with the Jake Brake on will help reduce the soot build up in the turbo. Does this make sense to anyone?
All the variable geometry turbos will stick when they get a build up of soot. Ford has been having this problem from years. The E brake, (it is not a jake brake), is actually the computer telling the nozzle in the turbo to close, which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses. When it gets stuck from all the soot, it either overspools the turbo, or lags heavily during acceleration. Using the e brake all the time will help save your brakes and keep the soot from sticking the nozzle.
