I know it is an option that most dealership choose when they order the trucks but not all
Cab clearance lights are generally separate from the light package option.. at least on the 3500 SRW.

Cab lights are definately an option on srw trucks, and they are the law on duallys. My 08' 6speed manual has the 3.42 rear gear and I have never required more gear. The 6.7 torque seems plenty juicy. Mine is also for sale;...Cheap! Chris

2500-3500

I know that in the 2nd generation trucks the 3500 had a much larger axle tube wall thickness and larger springs as well as a larger rear brake diameter piston in the Dana 80. The 3500 also got a heavy duty 4 wheel drive transfer case. When DC went away from Dana to the AA axles there are just two rear axle sizes and all Cummins equipped 2500 and 3500 got the larger of the two. The real big difference in the two trucks other then their appearance and hips, is the duallys ability not to overload the rear axles and tires with a lot of weight in the bed. Like towing a heavy 5er or frequently putting in 3000Lbs of stones, gravel, sand, or soil. They achieve this by spreading the load over 4 tires instead of two and the added overload springs. In my 97 2500 it had the overloads and rear sway bar on it because then, it was an option under the tow package but no dually and a Dana 70 rather then a Dana 80. As far as I can tell now though, there is no difference between the trucks other then a wider axle, dually wheels, the overloads and the required cab clearance lights on a dually.

With respect to the 44DDs or 36ds... I'm sorry to break it to you guys, but anything more then a hand full is a waste but like a 3500, hips complete the shape! Different strokes for different folks.

Front DRW spacers, rear DRW spacer and new axleshafts.

I think the the biggest thing is whether or not you need the extra towing capacity stamped to be legal. My 08 3500 has a 3.73 and is rated to pull 14k properly equipped. I yanked off the junk factory hitch and put on an 18,000lb receiver and a 20,000 hitch and ball so I would be properly equipped.

I have a big boat that weighs around 13,500 lbs depending on fuel level and I wanted to be legal.

WIth respect to cab lights my laramie has every option from electric running boards to navigation to a sun roof, yet it doesn't have the cab lights. I wish I had them but it does make it easier to wax the roof lol..
