I bought a 3500 for a dually. The 3500 on my insurance was alot cheaper than a 2500 as well. They see that you're safer in it. My buddys insurance seen his as causing more damage so it was more money. Just depends on your insurance company. I have Farm Bureau Insurance and he has State Farm. So I would say if you have no reason for a dually, then i would get which ever one was cheaper on insurance and the price as well. If you get a 2500 I would put Firestone Air Bags on it. They are really nice and are super easy to install.

IMHO the 2500 should be a single rear tire and the 3500 is the dual. I beleive this is how it was many many years ago.

You cant really just bolt on 3500 overloads to a 2500. Are not the plates on the frame welded on.

Here are 2 other advantages to the 3500 that I wish I had known about before I bought my 2500.

*TPMS is NOT on the 3500 only th 2500's and below. You can do what you want with tires.:thumbsup No TPMS is PRICELESS!

*I'm told the GVWR is much higher, like 10000 plus. That eliminates Emission testing in many states, like Nevada. I could do all my up coming deletes and not have to put it all back on yearly.

Dang I thought I had all the letters figured out by now!!! What is TPMS? Something with torque management or throttle position?

The difference when I bought my 07 was about $400 in invoice pricing and the overload springs in the back. What only one person has mentioned though is that the perches that the overloads work against are WELDED onto the frame....not sure I'd want to try to add that. This is the only physical difference on the 07s.

i think the perches are riveted on, but a good shop could weld on for you.

What about the brakes? The most I got out of my 2500's was 80K (highway miles, unloaded). My o5 3500 SRw is now at 167K on original brakes and still have meat on the pads. At this point I could ruin the discs and be happy to buy new discs with my pads. Just good luck or is there a difference in brakes? Thanks.
