Bomb'n advise

Alright guy’s, got some questions.

4X4 DRW 08 mega

I do some towing, mainly an 8’ enclosed trailer loaded with 10K+ of toy’s. I’d like to be able to run through the mountains of Chattanooga & Birmingham without breaking a sweat.

This thing will never see the track, but it may need ta spank a dura or choke every once in a while. I don’t mind a little smoke, but I want to keep it down as much as possible.

What I’d like ta do is get the HP in the high 4’s without exceeding the 500 mark, which seems to be the limit on the 68rfe. Of course I want to do this and keep my MPG as high as possible.

My thoughts right now are, crap can the DPF & EGR, add CAI, 5” SS TBE, TS-MP8, PMT, honed injectors & an air dog.

Possibly a larger intercooler, but I don’t know if I’ll need it. If I did use injectors, the PMT would mainly be for monitoring & providing alerts and low settings.

Questions;

1. Will I need a 5” exhaust to keep the EGT’s down, or would 4” be sufficient?
2. Which intake will give me the flow I need while providing very good filtration? (Mega-cannon?)
3. TS-MP8 or Diablo sport puck extreme? Advantages / disadvantages?
4. DDP injectors or have mined honed, if mine, by who?
5. Any other suggestions?

well to start with, that sounds like a plan, but towing 8-10000 pounds with those injectors, and no trubo upgrade she is gonna get pretty hot, thats without the chip on, now they make plenty of things that would help you out, but that sounds like a good bit of horse power to be towing with, i would stay at the 400-450 range, and remember with chips, your egt's are based on timing, i have found that edge is a good box to havem they keep egt's down better than most, and the 68 tranny is only gonna be good for about 70hp or a little more give or take some over stock before the tc starts to slip.... i would start with the exhaust, and intake first, and go with it for a little while, maybe a box or programmer in there just to see, but start there first so see where your egt's go, and i wouldnt pull in extreme mode with any chip.... and make sure you have a tranny temp gauge if your gonna be towing all the time, its a good thing to have....

Minus injectors

If I hold off on the injectors, will I need the 5" exaust?

I'm not sure of the point where the 5" cooling benefit has an adverse affect on the hp. (I believe due to decreased back pressure.)I do plan to have a muffler...sooo????

Ya, I think both the PMT and Edge have tow modes. I think it would be rare for me to have it in extreme.

Which would be better (long term durability) on the engine, injectors with gauges, or chip?

still have questions

Will the 6.7's liquid cooled turbo not handle the heat of the injectors, or will it not build enough boost?

If I omit the injectors, will I need the 5" exhaust?

Does the PMT monitor tranny temp?
