had enough

after 5 months of ownership, one turbo acuater, one complete turbo assembly, a new dpf, a broken exhaust brake ( by the dealer ), more cel's than a human can remember, all the computer re-flashes (that i had to bring to the dealers attention) and 33 overnight stays at the dealer, all with a whopping 16,000 miles on the clock, i am going shopping for a new truck starting tomorow. this truck has been the biggest disapointment i have ever had. it is total crap. it has been to the dealer so many times they start to fill out my service ticket when they see it pull up. they told me 5 cel's ago that the next time i get another cel, chrysler was getting envolved for a possible buy back. total bullsh-t! they just clear the codes, call to come get it and cross their fingers when i leave. i paid a small fortune for this peice of junk and it has cost me twice as much in lost service from sitting at the dealership. it has literally cost me income. cummins should have never put this moter out until it was ready. and i hope it eventually cost them as much as their poor designed peice of junk has cost me. oh and by the way the cel came on again this morning. good luck to the rest of ya!

I would say to go back a year and find a more reliable 5.9 to replace it with...Hate to hear that you are not happy with the most dependable truck (IMO) on the roads until this great engine they come up with... they should have stuck to the basics...

yea i thought about maybe picking up on a 5.9, but i'm just as disapointed in the way i have been treated as a customer by the dealer and chrysler for them to get another dime from me. and even if i got one from an individual i would fell like i was supporting them in a way. you know thought you reep what you so. instead of trying to take care of a customer that was willing to give them time to figure it out. they decided to treat me like crap and lie to me about trying to do a buy back. hell i would have bought right back from them. they would rather have a cancer form from unhappy customers spreading their storys like a disease. and we all know the end result of cancer.

The engine is fine. It's all the emissions crap that Dodge put on it that is causing all the issues....

Yupp...and even the emissions crap isn't really Dodge's fault....we have the EPA to thank for that....
The EPA says, these are the emissions you have to meet. They could care less if it gets terrible fuel millage or has problems due to the crap they require it to have.

What codes are you throwing? Maybe it is just that dealer that is clueless. The new engine is a nother breed and some dealerships haven't had their techs trained properly. Why not try another dealer? I love my problem free truck and if the right guy worked on yours maybe you would love yours too.

it's thown more codes than i care to list. i'm at the point know that i can't loose any more money screwing around with dodge or cummins getting it together. i make a living with this truck, every time it go's in for service thats pretty much a lost day's pay. my original post listed all the problems i have had since i got it but they all started around 13000 miles. i only have about 16500 or so know. that means in about the last two months this is what i have been through. 33 days of not having my truck in two months. i don't know to many people that can get buy getting paid every other day!

I would get a mouth piece and sue for a buy back, they are just jerking your chain, and go for lost time and wages, it is total BS!

Good Luck in whatever you do!

I fealt the same way about my 01. It was a turd from the word go. It pissed me off to no end too. I swore I wouldn't get another one......I replaced with my 04.5 and it's the best truck I have owned yet.....hopefully whatever your next truck is, it will be good to you!

I was in at my dealer today for yet another CEL. I told them I was going to start a lemon law process on it if it wasn't fixed. I'm very dissapointed with Dodge and Cummins for releasing these trucks without shaking the bugs out first.

We had a VERY similar problem with a 02 International Semi and my dad actually took the truck to a truck show in Louisville and had BIG cut out lemons with all the times it had been in the shop and all the problems and this and that and International actaully bought the truck back as well as GAVE us a new semi and payed for downtime.... so may be a thought if you can find a truck show coming up somewhere that there is going to be some big wigs from chrysler there?????? just a thought for ya
