I recently got an email back from H&S, and they told me that the current dpf delete system, which ships for around $350, will throw a check engine code from time to time unless you use an Edge Juice. The throwing of the code will not effect the performance of the truck in any way, in their words, " you just have to live with the check engine light being on until the code is cleared." They also told me they are finishing up a system that will not throw any codes, with or without the Edge, and for me to check back around the first of the year for availability and a price.

Update for the Dodge 6.7L DPF Delete kit:

We are still working on making the kit 100% free from any trouble codes. At this time we do not have an estimated date as to when the code free kit will be available, but hopefully soon. However, if you are running a Edge Juice w/ attitude it is possible to run our kit without codes, and also without derating the engine. You can also run the kit without the Edge and not derate the engine, but will possibly throw a code every few days, which you would either have to live with, or use a tuner or scan tool to clear the code. Either way, the kit will not derate the engine, will not let regen cycles start, will lower your egt's, and improve fuel economy greatly. Pricing on the kit right now is $349 shipped, anywhere in the continental U.S. If this is something you are interested in at this time, please send us an email with "special order" in the memo field and we will start the order for you immediately.
If you wish to wait for the code free kit, please do not respond to this email, but rather check with us after January 1st. We thank you for your interest in our products and look forward to doing business with you now, or in the near future.

-H&S Performance

EDIT, oopps, this is old email. Newer 1 says they have a turboback 5" for 699 shipped too

I believe that they have figured out a patch not a solution. So far they have had the best product out (the only product mind you). Given some time I am sure that other companies are working on a solution.

A solution is needed fast. Who ever had an idea to put this system on these truck should be shot. I understand about emissions but how does it help if your are using more fuel to meet the EPA's regs. It's like robing peter to pay paul. ( off of my saop box now ).... Why can't we just change the ECM out. It's not that simple I'm sure but there has to be a way to swap it out. I wouldn't imagine the paramiters would be that different would they?

EPA's fault...not Dodge

None of this crap wold be going on if the EPA stayedout of it. Just wait until Ford and GM have to meet 2010 standard. Dodge was meeting those standards in 2007. Dont blame any of the manufacturers blame the EPA

So I have the H & S kit thats about 5 month old (no O2 bungs, sims for the regen) with a smarty, my truck has not gone into regen in 6000 miles since I installed it, however about every 1500 to 2000 miles I get a catylast full message on the overhead never with a derate though. First time freeked me out as I thought it would derate and I was a long way from home...this was also before I had a Smarty...I borrowed a code reader and cleared the codes and it got rid of the message. After I got my Smarty and Edge Insight I figured it would never happen again, still get the code every 1500 or so miles, clear it with the insight no problems, never have had it derate. I think with the proper sims and a code reader you will never have a problem!

If you want a dpf delete kit just get the dpf-r kit I have ran one for 8000 miles and have not had any problems with no cel light and I check for codes every so often the only thing that comes up is egr codes if you leave it hooked up and wait 5 or 10 seconds when you turn the key on and then start you have no cel light

Haven't you guys heard of SMARTY? Using the ME edition, it will reprogram the ECM and no CELs.

I have the Edge stacked with a new Smarty. Been on the truck now about three months and somewhere around 5K miles. I still get catalyst full message about every 1K miles and just clear it with the Edge. Never derated and runs great. Once all my deletes were done and the Smarty was added (from James at RSD) I have been a very happy camper and have no cel and nothing else other than catalyst full every so often. This setup works great for me and I will have no issues being issued a yearly inspection because TX does not do emissions other than a visual if they even know what to look for!

i have the same problem, as soon as i got rid of my dpf she ran great then cat full message. i have be searching ever since. this is what i have found, you can not reset this ur self a dealer can but this will only prolong the problem. if you truck goes with out a regen for a long time the truck will go into regen regadless of sims in there. are you getting a high idel on start up with blue smoke? this is trying to get the exhaust hot to start a regen also deling with ur EGR. my EDGE did not fix my problem i still have the 2 codes but i have pulled all my SIMS and unpluged my EGR and am waiting for a H&S black maxx to intall. i am going to the dealer on friday i will see what can happen on there end.

hope that helped
