The dealer told me my truck was new enough to already have this new programming done at the factory. I bought it at Lithia in Pocatello, same service dept. The guy that looked at my truck said it was possible the PDF was starting to plug up already but also said the DIC would come up with a warning of how full (80% or more) it was getting. I read a Cummins powerpoint presentation on how the PDF works someone had a link to elsewhere in this site. It was pretty informative and led me to think it was possible I wasn't running the truck long enough to regen the PDF. I took the truck for an extended drive a few days ago and ran it over several mountain passes to get the EGT up to where the filter would do its thing. The fuel mileage is pretty good for a new truck 16.9 according to the DIC but real math says 15.4. My title may have been confusing, I meant low odometer mileage, not fuel mileage. Anyhow, since my little drive, it seems to be doing OK. I am pretty confident that I haven't seen the last of this problem though...thanks for all your input.

Flash me !
I get my truck back wednesday finally. The dealer is going to flash the new code, into the ECU. I spent a week driving a stinky, 05 3500 Dodge. Not real happy about the whole thing but, oh well.

well I did get my truck back but, I was told the code on the ECU was for the EGR valve? OK... And my truck will not need a ECU flash because it has already been taken care of at the plant where it was made? OK. So anyway, my truck sat at the dealer for six day's to find out that the code was the EGR valve, and it isn't screwing up now. OK... Pain in my buttox that was, say's Yoda Oh by the way, you can show an animated butt on this site, but you can't write A.S.S. Crazy that is?

Last but not least?
Well got the truck back after six long day's and was told that the EGR valve may have had a problem. That is as far as the ECU code reported. The tech drove the truck for 28 miles and every thing checked out ok ? I guess we will see what happens next.

tip
if you are experiencing this list of problems and the vehicle has not been to the dealer yet or they have done nothing for it ...there is a software flash to fix almost all of these concerns i have read here... your local dealer has the ability to find this and flash the controller.... seems some dealers are not checking for updated software and that is why some of you are not getting the "fix".... this "flash" has fixed every vehicle with rough idle, hard crank, loud rattle noise ...etc..................:thumbsup

Just took mine to the dealer today, I told 'em it gave me the hard crank a few times and that I thought there was a TSB out for them. I ask if they knew about it and they did, so I left it there. They couldn't duplicate the problem (which I knew they wouldn't cuz I haven't had any problems with it) but they "updated the programming so it's got the latest and greatest", so the service writer puts it. Anywho...don't really notice any difference but I drive an hour to work every day so that's prolly why.

The RE-Flash for the 6.7 was released on June 12th! ours has to go in for it's 2500 mile oil change next week and I called the dealership to find out if Since the truck was a June Baby, if the new Flash was in there already! No problems w/ about 2500 miles on it! milage empty is right @ 16.5 Hand Calculated and 12.6 W/ the trailers we've pulled w/ it (22 Ft Horse hauler(W/ 3 or 4 head on) and 24 Ft Goose Loaded @ about 12.5K) that's highway mostly. hard to stay on interstate in Western IL!

I had the new flash put on my 6.7 for a different purpose but its not a recall its a service bulletin. I needed the flash for my power pup to work and the flash if for no service problems is $20. As far as the mileage goes before the programmer I got 15.4 average in town and I went to St. Louis on the interstate and got 17.1. However after the programmer I am gettin 16.8 in town and 19.6 on my next trip.
