Ummm...it broke!

So there I was pullin into the parking lot at work and bang! There went the ball joint connection at the pitman arm So called Dodge and they won't fix it till Tuesday. Question is I have the lift in my sig and was wondering if anyone would recommend a drop pitman arm for this lift? If so what kind. Also I think I might have already had the upgraded steering...we'll see at the dealership

did the draglink completely disconnect from the pitman arm? That's some crazy crap if so. Imagine being on the highway @ 70 and that happening

There is a recall on the pitman arm and drag link, for my truck anyway, that stated catastrophic falure that may cause death or serious injury. Might check into it...

This exact thing happened to me this morning. Called my dealer, they gave me the number for Emergency roadside assistance. I just got a call about on hour ago saying my truck was ready for pick up. Talk about scary though if it would have come apart at 70.

It is pretty scary. I'm not sure what years the recall was for, but I received it in the mail a few months ago while I was working in western Kansas. I took it to the po-dunk dealer in Dodge City (no pun intended) to have the tranny serviced and have them check into the recall, but after two hours when they came to tell me it was ready, I asked them about what they found with the recall and the service writer had forgotten about it! I had even talked to the mechanic and reminded him it was to be checked out, and he did, and it needed to be replaced, but he was only there for a few more minutes, leaving early I guess, and that they couldn't take care of it! I was pissed! I was even sittinig in the waiting room earlier when they came out to explain to the other gentleman, that the reason it was taking so long to change his oil was because they had taken care of the same freakin' recall that I had REQUESTED they look at on my truck!!! I was leaving for home the next day and driving 900 miles on something that could have killed me or the person I head-on collisioned with if it would have broken! I should sue their dumb-a$$es for endangerment!

if your truck is lifted will they recall/fix it on their dime???

Also, look at your traction bar or panhard, what ever you want to call it and see if the angle it's at matches the angle that your draglink is at. If your drag link is at a steeper angle, then yes, run a drop pitman arm to get them as close to the same angle as possible. This will help with bump steer and death wobbles.

This is assuming that the dodges run a panhard/ traction bar on the front suspension like they do on the jeeps... honestly i've never looked at mine.

No need for a drop pitman arm for a KORE Suspension (the one in your sig).

Yes the dealers do fix it if you have a lift...at least mine had no problem. He said he had to cause it was a recall item that pointed at safety. I did get it fixed by the way One thing I did notice was they adjusted the draglink to fit the pitman arm better. And yes when it broke it sheared clean off!! Just scary to know I had my kids in the truck many times when on highway. Could have happened any time.

The Kore Recon works within the stock geometry parameters. You don't need a drop pitman arm.
