Exhaust Brake

Just bought an '09 and have been wondering about the exhaust brake.

Some people say it's best to run the EB all the time (cleans out the soot form the turbo) and some said it's bad (wears out the turbo).

Anybody actually know the answer?

Thanks!

Run it all the time without question. Your turbo will thank you for it.

Somebodys allways saying something, lol.... BEST BET IS TO QUESTION EVERYBODY, Ask "why do you say that" if they cant answer dont listen to them. People (humans) are repeaters like parrots.. They say they have no clue is correct or not and it just adds to the confusion..
Any ways I run mine 100% from day #1 and my rig has 30k miles and never had a single problem... So its your choice cause asking a queston is 50/50 on websites. 50% repeater bullcrap and 50% truth...

cleans out all of the soot from the turbo, preventing failure and save your brakes while your at it

As long as we are talking EB, is there any way to adjust it so it will stay on longer with out haveing to down shift or be in the tow haul function. It stops working as soon as the RPM hit 1100, even if the speedo is at 30 MPH.

why to use the EB: saves your brakes and sounds really cool

the only time I don't use it is when its snowy and icey. That mostly because I haven't driven it enough to figure out how it will behave yet.

If you use the EB all the time won't you loose mileage? I use mine off an on and it seems when coasting it slows you down faster and have to apply the throttle again to get to the light or ???

What do you all think?

yeah, you'll lose about 1mpg running the EB all the time. I drive in a lot of stop and go traffic so its a life saver. I'll take the 1mpg hit rather than replace rotors and brakes more often. I also don't really want to hit anyone with this POS factory front bumper.
