How often passive regen takes place?

Currently I have not performed the deletes yet and I drive roughly 100-150 miles a day, pretty heavy foot so my avg. speed is 75-80. Is it normal my truck is going into regen every other day or so?

In my case, regens usually happend every other tank full about 500 to 600 miles. I have an insight monitor and I had it set up to tell me when it was in regen. Dont be fooled by desoot/denox they occured every time I started until the truck warmend up.

I'm happy to say that I havent had a regen in 34000 miles, and now get 450 miles before hitting the 1/4 tank mark.

mine seems to go into passive regen every other day or so. I've got it set to tell me time in between regens and it usually is around 5-6000 seconds.... Lots of fuel burnt doing that. Just waiting to do the deletes. It's my New Years Resolution.

I have been watching regens. Last tank of fuel I got a regen at 178 miles, and another at 320 miles. Did not get the second complete. Filled tank and now got a regen this morning at 78 miles. I have to get this junk off my truck. Burning fuel to do nothing is insane.

I think you are asking about active regen. Active regen is where it dumps fuel and can be tracked. Passive regen can't be tracked, because it just means the EGT's are high enough from your current load to keep the DPF clean (like in heavy towing)

I've seen regens (w/o OHD messages) between 150-300 miles depending on driving habits at the time. Seeing a regen every other day with daily mileages of 175 sounds about right to me. Lot's of towing is supposed to reduce the need for regens due to the high EGT's. I've seen posts of those that get away with that and have fully stock trucks. I've also seen heavy haulers gum up turbos & exhaust. Best thing is to learn what works for you, your truck and your driving habits.

Before the deletes I made a 2600 mile round trip out to Montana. Every 200 miles or so the my Edge insight would start flashing regen. It's not been over 10k since I wasted fuel

How do you know when your truck goes into the regen mode? Does it say so on the overhead monitor? I have about 4,500 miles on my '09 & as far as I know it has never regenerated.

Thanks,
Wayne
