lets stop worring about the hg for a min.

Lets do somthing a lil diffrent:

Who runs a smarty with deletes and has not blown a head gasket?

What settings do you run?

Do you tow?

How many miles have you put on this setup?

How hard do you rip on your truck?

Maybe instead of worring about the hg we can all relax a lil bit.

I've been running Smarty for near 4K using a variety of levels and settings. All the way up to SW7. I've had no issues.
I drive with a very Sane right foot.

6k miles with smarty, sw7, timing 3, rp 3, turbo 3, tm 2. My truck has 12k miles on it as it sits, my clutch wont hold 5th and 6th any more if that tells u how i drive it. Just turned it down to sw5 last week. Ocassional towing, not real heavy 8-10k

Smarty Settings

3000 Miles so far with my Smarty.

SW5 using default settings.

Tow 20' Enclosed Trailer occasionally with some toys.

Easy with the right foot, and a little easier with the right foot since all of the HG talk.

around 15,000 so far mostly level 3 and a few thousand on 5. A little towing (5-10,000 lbs), turned down to 1 for that. So far, so good. I don't rip on it much and make sure it's warmed up when I do.

Oh timing on default, vgt on 2 & 3. I run the tq mgmnt at 1 step above stock(2?) can't remember.

jeff.

Hey Jon what do you have your Smarty set to.

Now I have had the smarty on since it was available.
I have over 20000 miles with the smarty and the deletes.
I am now running switch#2 or #4 with all revo set to #2. I have run all the way up to switches #7 and #8 for short times. I have had zero problems and have never popped one code on my truck since the smarty and exhaust install. I have ran my truck at the strip a few times just for the fun of it. I have probably done 10-15 drag runs, I have done about the same amount of WOT runs up to 120 mph thru all the gears, and I have towed with it hauling a trailer that weighed in just under 15k. The normal trailer I tow is more like around the 10-12K range. I check my coolant on regular basis and have not had any bubbling or loss of coolant.
Keep this in mind. Ask those who have blown head gaskets. Majority of them have removed the EGR Cooler. Does this have anything to do with it I don't know for sure. My brother, my cousin. and I have all left our coolers in place.
PM me if you would like more information.
Andy

I have been running SW9 with timing on 3 and everything else on default for over 10k miles. And i drive my truck hard... and when I say hard I mean HARD. 4X4 3rd gear boosted launches, burnouts, donuts, mudding, drag racing, rock climbing... my truck has done it all and does it all often. My tires have 10K miles on em and are about gone. And i have yet to blow mine... Knock on wood lol. My cooler is gone also. Sometimes i pull my horse trailer but thats it. I have never ran anything less then SW9. I also ran my vgt setting on 4 for several thousand miles.

The burnout video in my sig is an example of me having fun... and i like to have fun alot. lol

18,000 miles on the truck since the Smarty, 50% of those miles towing 17,000 pounds. SW 7 most of the time SW5 Towing. Settings are RP3 Timing 3 TQ management 3 IIRC.

Crazy, but no head gasket problems.

I had just a clutch and smarty for about 28k miles. Pulled up too 20,000 lbs., with up to 6 different trailers a day. I have the smarty on 7 right now and my drive pressure stay's bellow 1:1 ratio. EGT's never get above 1200. That's still with about 30 run's at the track.
