Programming a 6.7 2009
Ok first I would like to apologize for sounding stupid I have never owned a Cummins Before I have a 2009 6.7 automatic 6 speed 4x4 crew cab daily driver. I would like to know from the experts out there what is the best exhaust, programmer and air intake combo for my truck. Now I know there are thousands of post about this but I could not find one that was in common with a 2009 ( if that matters) I also now that some programmers leave a trace on the computer ( i have learned that smarty does not) I am trying not to void the warrenty but at the same time get some horse power and MPG nothing crazy just above average Again I thank you for you patience and your response.

he build date makes the biggest difference. If your truck was built before April 09 ,you can put any 6.7 programmer you want on the truck. After April the Edge will be your only choice.

After the april build date dodge put a boot loader on the computer, so if you plug a programmer on it it will lock the ecm up

The main reason is the DPF (diesel particulate filter). When researching info about your truck you will fall in with the 07.5 to 08 year model trucks in the ecm realm. Anything you do to the truck that has a wire attached to it can be found/traced by chrysler if they want to look for it. There is no such thing as untraceable aftermarket tuners on these trucks. Even the plug in boxes (Edge Juice, MP8, Power Puck etc) can be found in ECM readings after being removed. I would suggest reading this site a little bit each day or two for a few weeks before you make any decisions. That being said I waited almost two years to touch mine and I now have the Smarty, I have tried some others, but am keeping the Smarty. |

i have an 09 as well. i have an s&b cold air intake i really like. Very easy to install. Read the owners manual that came with your truck and you will understand the emissions garbage that is on it. there are a lot of COOL parts out now that you can use to delete all of the junk so you can get better mileage, more power, and smoke out your pipe if you want it
