6.7 turbo silencer ring

I heard of someone talking about removing a silencer ring in the torbo or somewheres around it, is that possible, and also what does it do?

The 5.9s had a silencer ring in the inlet of the turbo held in place with a snap ring - don't know if the 6.7s have it or not.

Yes they do...but you have to break dowels to remove it...and you will actually have a loss in turbo performance as it directs airflow...not worth it on the 6.7

I wouldn't fool with it - all it did on my 5.9 was give the whistle which got old after a while anyway. Plus the ring helps smooth out the airflow into the compressor housing on the turbo as stated above.

took mine out awhile back and it sounded good. put it back in to see if i could notice any difference in spool time and everything... spools a little bit faster now with it in and before i was only gettin 29 psi max and just the other day i hit 34 psi... numbers show it all!!

You also have a 5.9 so you are comparing apples to oranges

On the 5.9 it does nothing but muffle sound, will not affect a thing... Personally I like the sound of mine removed, really only noticible from 8-18 psi..

Anyways... Like its been said you have to break dowel's to take it out, and thus can't really get it back in.

According to the holeset website, the whistle plate was requested by Dodge to quieten down the turbo whistle, and removing it on the 6.7 will neither boost or hurt performance. It is there ONLY to make the turbo quieter.
