its not as hard to get the pins out as everyone thinks... its a pain, but its not hard. just take the aluminum side of the turbo housing out and drill and wack on the ring a lil, and it comes right out

A mod usually GAINS HP, not LOOSES. This mod is a loose, loose situation

This whole "cummins says....." thing brings up another point I have. I have an HE431VE sitting in the garage, for the day I get my shop 6.7 and it has no ring and not even provisions for one.... That being said this came out of a fire engine and not a dodge so the silencer ring or surge ring is most likely a manufacturer specific part.

Yeah...but fire-trucks are supposed to be as powerful as possible and have to have as much low-end as they can b/c of the weight of all the water, tanks, gear, ladders, hoses, etc...

I'm sure they wouldn't restrict a fire-truck no matter what...

Not that you're wrong Kurt (b/c you're probably right)...I'm Just thinkin out loud, you know? LOL

The new city of Houston fire trucks have the cummins ISM with EGR and DPF. They have had all kinds of problems at fire when the engine shuts down and goes into limp mode while pumping on a fire. The mechanics have to come out and do a forced regen. These new fire apparatus will go into regen mode at any time, even pumping at fires, since they are not on the highway all the time going highway speeds. However they dont go into regen mode during low idle.

What is the name that Cummins calls it ( silencer ring, baffle, etc)? Whatever the true name of it is thats probably what it is. The new hybrid city buses here in New York
have the 5.9 Cummins in them, major turbo problems with them.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!!!

This world is so f***ing retarded over this fake "global warming" crap, that now even our on-demand first-responders, EMTs, Medics and Fire Fighters have to have emissions on all of those vehicles!?!?!?!

That's messed up, when emergency response vehicles are shutting down on scene b/c of emissions problems, yet "They work fine to us", says Chrysler, Ford, and GM, who have all had emissions issues with their diesels.

Do the cab&chassis 6.7's have a silencer ring? Because 2 of my buddies have 07.5 6.7 c&c's and both there turbos scream way louder than mine

All I know is, is if the fire department showed up to my house to put out a fire and the cummins in it shuts down and does not allow them to do their job, it would definatly be something to see a lawer for, just to tell Chrysler/Dodge your all F'd up. Maybe just to be a thorn in their side. It would even be better if my Dodge had the same problem and I could show my work orders, and supenia the ones for the fire department. It would be hard to argue that that is not a problem!!!

Well I didn't take mine out but I hear all this about dunk numbers but it's all hearsay I haven't yet seen any dyno sheets to prove your theories. There have been many people remove it with no Ill effects so until I see dyno sheets I will just say do it if you like cause if I get the chance I will do it too
