now that was very helpfull, i allready have the intake silencer removed just wanted to remove the turbo silencer and was unsure about the the grinding of the pins.

i had plans to machine it out but said screw it so i just took the whole thing out and i dont notice any performance loss...

I'm sure your turbo will last a long time having to overspin to make a given boost level

yeah, I know... I realize that because you have a 6.7 that's the only truck you've ever been around... I have a 6.7 turbo at the house... you're exposing part of the inducer diameter section of the compressor wheel, and it doesn't take a fluid dynamics degree to understand that you're neutering the compressor's efficiency

I which case its kinda hard to tell that you have already removed the silencer, and that you wanted to know more about the actual pins to drill.

and if my turbo does happen to take a sh!t i have the stock housin sittin in the truck pull that one out put the stock one in...

yeah i guess the 98.5 i owned was a 6.7 also. when i bought it i 98 it had a super secret emissions free test 6.7! jealous? oh yeah i forgot, it also was a hybrid and the silencer ring had a silencer ring on it. so it was stealth.

but my super secret 6.7L aside, i was way off here. i was thinking about foam silencer baffles. i dont think anyone should mess with the actual ring on the turbo. why chance performance an reliability (its deisgned to have one) for a little noise? i pulled my foam baffle because it is indeed foam. no good if it ever dries up and breaks apart. i used to have a CAI and sold it. nothing like 15psi howlig under the hood non stop for 4 hours on a loaded run to dallas

Well i took mine out today. I am stock with a s & b intake. I thought it sounded great before and now with the silencer out it sounds like a wind tunnel unless you hit the gas harder. In my opinion the whistle sounded better before the ring was removed
