OEM remote start function questions...

Can someone with the factory DC remote start system answer a few questions for me.

1. Can you hit the start button while the truck is running, remove the key from the ignition, and have it continue to run. Several aftermarket remote start systems I have had allow this.

2. If you remote start the truck, and then shut it off using the remote, can you then restart it immediately, or is there a delay?

3. Is there anything you dont like about the starter, or anything you would like to see different?

Reason I ask....Just had OEM remote start installed on the wifes 09 Honda Pilot. The system stinks! Get this, once you remote start the vehicle, you cannot open the door of the pilot UNTIL you stop then engine, only then can you open the doors. Also, if you remote start the vehicle, and then decide to stop it using the remote, you then must wait 10 minutes to remote start it again, IF you were in 10 minute run mode, if it was set in 20 minute run mode, and you stop it, you must wait 20 minutes to re-remote start it!

I'm so pissed, $691 installed and it sucks. Trying to get a refund and have it pulled out. I just want to make sure I dont make the same mistake again. So please tell me you likes and dislikes on the Dodge OEM remote start.

Not sure on the factory one, but for $5-600, get an aftermarket alarm with remote start, better security and plenty of features with the remote start.
I love my clifford, two way paging, 1mile range(there are others with longer range), turbo timer, valet mode, etc, etc

I love mine. I has to lock the doors before it will start (so it wont work with the doors open.) It runs for 10 minutes and while it is running the parking lights will be on. You can unlock the doors as soon as it starts. You can restart it as soon as it shuts off (10 min)
You cant get it out of park until you put the key in. Have not tried to leave it running but I just shut it off and then restart with remote (to leave AC on for the dog)

Couple more questions...

Can you adjust it to run longer than 10 min? Heck thats not long enough to begin to defrost here in the dead of winter. On the phone with the dealer, the tech said his jeep has the factory one, and he has it set to run for 20 min, can anyone confirm?

Also, has anyone added the 2 way add on module? I ould b very interested in this. If it worked, then pretty much all advantages of an aftermarket system would be eliminated IMO.

If the key is in the ignition, and the truck is running, if you hit the button can you then remove the key from the ignition while the truck stays running?

Many aftermarket systems behave like this, I am wondering if the factory one will as well.

Not really. For that same 5-600 bucks you'd get waaayy more out of an aftermarket one. My autostart system (Autostart) has a turbo timer, cold weather mode (truck will run for 8 minutes every two hours when it gets really cold), valet mode, safe start, 3500 ft range, etc, etc, etc and the fob will dispay the temperature inside the vehicle at any time. Any install shop worth a darn can also program the extra buttons on the fob to turn on the EB and heated seats. By comparison, my old man's DC system only runs for 10 min. (not sure if it can be changed), will only let you restart the truck once after the initial timer runs out, might have a 300 ft range if he's lucky and has no other features. Kind of a no brainer don't you think?

X2. The aftermarket is cheeper, it has way more adjustabilty abd features. Plus the aftermarket ones have alot father range. I run a Comp-Star remote start.
