That trailer can work you could get a gosseneck to 5th wheel adapter. They are not that expensive and then you could use a slider hitch. I think that would take care of clearance issues. Ill try to find a link to a adapter.

Thats for the link slowlt1. I have a question. If I just used like a regular B&W ball or something similar and put something like this on the trailer "Popup Gooseneck nine inch trailer extension for shortbed trucks, Horse Trailers, gooseneck hitch, Race Car Trailers, shortbed hitch, short bed truck hitch, Popup Hitch, short bed hitches, short bed truck hitch extention solution for your gooseneck tr would that not work?

watch this video that adapter you speak of is the same idea as extended king pin boxes on 5th wheels. It will move it away from the cab in a straight line but i dont think it will help with turning. YouTube - Extended King Pins? 5th Wheel Trailer & Short Bed Trucks

I used to have a 32' steel frame, steel wall with a bumper hitch. I also had it loaded with roughly 2,000lbs worth of tools and parts, along with two race snowmobiles (1000) , an atv (500), and 15 gallons of race fuel. It pulled fine, just had some sag. You can put that trailer behind a short bed, you just have to be very careful cutting corners. Without the long bed you wont have the ability to maneuver it like a fifth wheel can be.

would it be a trailer that you'd be buying or borrowing? because if it was just something you'd be using to move some small stuff it probably would be fine but i wouldn't use it on your truck with the trailer loaded up heavy.

How will it not help with turning? Seems that if you move the front of the trailer further away from your cab that it would have to give you more clearance from the cab when turning..Maybe I'm just thinking wrong...How close would the bedrail be to the bottom of the overhang of the trailer?
