Dually to Single Wheel Conversion- What is needed?

Just like the title says.

Do I really have to switch out axles and all that?

I have read on here before that you can just take the adapters off on the front and bolt up a regular wheel to it, is that true?

Any help is greatly appreciated and if there is any other threads on here can someone give me a link to it because I couldn't find much through the search bar

Here is a member from here who converted his dually to single wheel rear. I don't remember his name. He removed his front dually wheel spacers and added 3.5" spacers to the rear. His wheels are 18x10 with 4.5" backspacing and the tires are 33x15.5's and he has a 6" if I recall.

on the front you should be able to take off the spacer and be fine. on the rear you would have to get a wheel with the right backspacing or something to make up the diff in SRW vs DRW axles.

No I don't want super singles (too expensive) and I want to run 35's with 20's or 22's havent decided yet. I know on the back I would have to get a pretty wide tire but does anybody know of some wide mud terrain 35's for a 20" or 22" wheel?

I saw a 3500 dually with those wheels they put on 18-wheeler trailers in place of duallys. Pretty crazy looking.

dude...your honest to God best bet is to hit up a junk-yard in search for a newer single-wheel long-bed and rear axle (with same gear ratio) from a wrecked truck.

You can probably get both of them for under $2,000...probably closer to $1,500, then just have the bed painted to match.

Check eBay....there's probably something there.

Hondarebel, I'm in Round Rock, just north of Austin. If your serious I'd be willing to swap you my SRW stuff for your dually stuff. Only thing is I have a short bed so we wouldnt be able to swap those. Just throwing it out there. I'm sure you'd be able to find somebody with a long bed to trade with just as easy.

WOW ... that mega looks AWESOME like that ... I want one now lol

If you do swap out axles make sure to get one off of a 6.7 truck otherwise the limited slip will have clutches and you have to add friction modifier :S

Not true, I beleive the torque biasing diffs were used starting in 2003. I am in the process of converting my SRW to DRW and I bought an axle from a 2005. The diff. was I dentical except the carrier housing (where the cover bolts to) was a little different looking around the support casting. Hey if any one needs a complete 11.5 SRW with 3.42s, let me know!
