DiamondBack Bed Covers
Just bought one. I make a lot of trips out of town with two four wheelers and am getting sick of pulling a trailer because of them. I also want dry, lockable storage in my bed. Another member here who is local to me turned me in the direction of the DiamondBack covers a few weeks ago. I just placed my order. DiamondBack :: Covers as Tough as Your Truck I ordered mine with the sideload ATV package and Line-X. ![]() ![]() ![]() Anybody have any experience with these?

I have had mine for about 6 months. I am really happy with it. Well built and looks good. The only issue I can mention is getting the latch mechanism tight enough so it doesn't rattle but not so tight so you can't turn the handle is a pain. I got the rear half dialed in but the front half still rattles. The front is more effort because you have to lay inside while you adjust it with a flashlight so you can see. I'm just too damn lazy.

You put quads up on yours? How's the body roll with 800-900lbs up that high? |

I've had mine for about 2 years. I don't load quads but I have carried large reels of wire etc. (electrician) I have had a bit of a time readjusting the cab end to sit tight enough but not to hard to close. I 've just unclip the stuts and lay the cover down to make adjustments. One other thing is after the first winter, it gets very cold here, especially during swings in temp. the rubber tends to stick, and I would force it up. Then the front rubber came off, I reglued it and am going to try a light bit of grease on the rubber to prevent it from sticking. Other than those I like it very much, it's nice to be able to lock it and not worry about someone cutting it with a knife.

Mine showed up today. I put it on just well enough to be able to drive home from the shop. Still need to make the adjustments for positioning and then adjust the locks. Are you guys able to open the tailgate without lifting the rear cover? Right now, I can't. Thoughts? Instructions said I need to pull the cover rearwards some more. |

I can open and close my tailgate, I don't think you'd want the rubber too far back, otherwise the tailgate might push on it. mine sits right near the edge so the t.g just touches it. the guys i bought it from put it on and adjusted it initially. it shouldn't take very long to put on, just a little farting around to adjust things. p.s. I put some grease on the rubber, and the weather has been freezing and thawing, will let you know if it works. |

I'm fairly pleased with it. Quote:
I ended up shoving it towards the cab a little bit and that eliminated the tailgate issue. For the weatherstripping I'm thinking I'll try wiping the rubber down with talcum powder. I'm thinking a dry item might work better than a gel and leave less mess. |

I have one... (see the pics). It is awesome! I do have a few complaints about it tho... The Bad: * going down a bumpy gravel road, the clamps worked themselves loose and the front section popped open and the strut bracket broke. A simple rivet gun fixed the problem, but still. The body of my truck under the rear window is now chipped ![]() * The clamps cause a lot of damage to the bed rails (paint is chipped off right down to the primer in a spot about the size of a quarter), I have them cinched on there pretty good in order for it to not work itself loose. I am gonna get the box line-x'd so hopefully that will solve some of the problem. * It does take a bit to get everything dialed in, but once you do, its great! * Unless you use a DB headache rack, finding a solution can be tricky... I had one custom made. The Good (always want to end on a good note): * tougher than a mofo... I like that you can put almost 2K lbs of weight on the HD model... I love the extra storage capacity * I like that they lock... now once I get my locking tailgate, that back compartment will be a nice safe... that was one thing I really liked about my avalanche... the locking tailbage and secured box... * The ss looks great when its all clean! I have gotten many compliments on it and have only seen a few of them around town here... glad to know it's still a custom item up here. ![]() Once you get it fitted properly it works like a charm! ![]() ![]()

Something to think about in regards to locking the tailgate- What I plan on doing is finding a shed lock or some other sort of brackets and just secure my tailgate to the bed on the inside. It will essentially lock the tailgate, but from the inside instead of just using some crappy tailgate handle lock or locking handle. It will basically bolt the tailgate to the bed and you'll have to break the lock on the diamondback cover to get in. Not sure if I made any sense with that, but just a thought. |
