Something like this but not quite-

Instead of using a padlock, just use a small bolt dropped through the hole or one of these-

Mine got delivered today. It took about 1 to 1.5 hours to install it. Man that thing looks great. The only thing left is installing the HD cab protector, it was getting dark, so I left it for tomorrow. As mentioned, I got the line-x coated version and it works great with my truck. I also have the bed covered over the rails with line-x, so the whole thing is a perfect match. Initial impressions are very positive, it almost makes you forget the pain of spending so much money on it, almost...

[quote] The Bad:
* going down a bumpy gravel road, the clamps worked themselves loose and the front section popped open and the strut bracket broke. A simple rivet gun fixed the problem, but still. The body of my truck under the rear window is now chipped

I'm not sure about others, but my clamps are locktite'ed (is that a word?) I assumed that was from factory, have driven thousands of km on very rough roads with nary a problem. Might be a good idea if they're not already.
Also, the locks and "handles" will freeze up just like any other lock so keep some lock de-icer handy.

Can anyone with one of these put up a picture of their clamps. Mine seem to fit not quite right... they losen themselves off quite frequently. I will try the lock-tite and see if that works... it seems like there is not a lot of contact with the top of the clamp to the cover... it sits very precariously.

Thanks,
G

Sexy truck! The bed cover adds to it!

You talking about the 4 clamps that hold the center section down? If so, mine are pushed away from the center of the truck as far as possible. I shoved the clamp up against the bed rail before tightening them down.

Or are you talking about the set screws for the lock rods?

Forgot to mention that my install time does not include the ATV kit. I haven't even opened the box for it yet. I'll probably tackle that over the weekend.

I'm talking about the 4 clamps that hold down the center section. I have them pushed as far onto the bed-rails as they will go and also braced up against the cross members in the center section so that when I tighten them, they press against the cross-rails...

I know it would mean drilling into the bed rails, but it would almost seem more efficient if the top were bolted directly to the bed... ???

But they're coming loose?!
The sun is setting so getting a decent picture of mine is impossible. I may try tomorrow depending on when I get home from work.

Yeah, they brace against the cross-members as i tighten them... but that's only to prevent them from twisting while I tighten them. The cross-members don't hold the clamps in place once they are tightened down...

Hmm...
Blue locktite may be in order. I'll have to keep an eye on mine. Wouldn't be good for them to loosen up and I lose two ATV's AND the cover!

I can't upload pics of mine, it says they're too big. I don't know how else to do it?
