exhaust brake switch

ok guys and gals, i think i am on to something here and i really didnt know where to post this as it is not fully tested yet. I have good results from some quick tests however. I have come up with a way to automatically turn on the exhaust brake everytime the truck is started. It is basically a typical auto relay with some capacitors and resistors put in the right spots. here is a pic.................

IMG]http://i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu10/demolishun man/exhaustswitch.jpg[/IMG]

its fairly simple, and you can choose what switched power you want as long as it is hot in run and start. The capacitor acts like a ground until it charges then shuts off turning the relay on and then off after about 2.5 sec. Then once the truck is shut off and power is taken away the resistor (10K ohm) bleeds off the charge from the capacitor and resets the relay. The diode is there to prevent voltage spikes. The other resistor is what i measured inside the eshaust brake switch which is a momentary switch. The led on the switch will come on just like you had pushed the button. Also the switch itself is still fully functional allowing you to turn off the ex. brake anytime you wish. After the truck is shut off it does take about 2 minutes to fully bleed off the capacitors and reset the relay. Hope this helps!!!

doesn't TAO discharge the cap only 60% and remain there? what happen if you leave the truck parked for like a week, would that cap drain the battery?

I think there is a time delay that it takes to turn off. I know if I turn the truck off and then start it back up quickly (within a minute) the brake will still be on.

no the battery is unaffected because it is a switched power source that is hooked to the truck, so if the truck is off no power is applied to the relay
